HAPPY BIRTHDAY WILLIAM!
Today was William's first birthday. We had a lot of fun together, and the kids were at their usual crazy selves!
William's first birthday was a lot of fun. It's nice to have an older sibling who gets really excited about the whole presents and cake thing, so the parents don't have to fake it too much. They play off of each other pretty well. Emma did all of the present unwrapping while William supervised and added a hand when he thought necessary. In the picture below, he's not pouting or anything, he's just got that "puppy dog" adorability that shines through somethimes. Afterward, William had free reign with a piece of cake, and Emma ate all the icing off of hers.
One night during dinner, Emma could not simply eat (typical), but has to act weird. First she does this: (where her food is I don't know, because she certainly didn't eat it.)
William shows his approval and encourages her with a laugh:
Urged on by her brother, Emma has to come up with new material:
When we tried to feed her a few bites, she made the point to try and eat them through the shirt, which was perfectly logical to her. What her parents think would be hilarious is if she actually sat down at the table and ate dinner. She is however, very polite and says thank you, and please (and frequently says, "you stink daddy").
For Valentines day, we made sugar cookies and frosted them. Emma was of course in her element. William was content to sit in the sink and be a bibber.
When daddy comes home, his favorite thing is to be with the ones he loves.

Looks like fun! My kids don't sit down and eat either. I can't wait to see William again, he is so cute!
I cannot believe he's one already! And I *still* have not met him awake! HE IS SO CUTE! Hmmm, there was something else I was going to tell you ... I just don't remember what it was! Love ya!

Happy Birthday, William! Emma is classic--can you imagine dinner time any other way? I see you must have taught her about Ash Wednesday (ashes, ashes, we all fall down), just kidding. And surprisingly, when she is almost 5 she will still be running around in circles only William will be chasing her!
I love it when you post updates, though it makes me miss you guys even more. Emma just cracks me up. What a fun, funny, CUTE personality. And William, you can tell he loves his big sister and thinks she is the coolest thing ever. They honestly remind me a lot of Morgan and Britton, though Emma doesn't look to be quite as destructive as my Morgan was at that age. So cute! I miss them! (and you guys too, of course)
Can you believe how fast that first year goes??? I can't believe in 2 weeks (almost) we'll be having a birthday party for our William. *cries*
